The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE®) is designed to meet the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s requirements that all public school educators have the necessary knowledge and skill. There are six different assessments: basic skills, content assessment, professional pedagogy, educational leadership, paraprofessional assessment, and computer skill competency. The basic skills exam covers reading, mathematics, and writing whereas the pedagogy determines knowledge and skills with relation to student development and learning, instruction and evaluation, and professional roles and responsibilities. Criterion-referenced and objective-based, these tests are either multiple-choice or constructed response and vary in test time.
